Gold Coast National Parks

Australia’s Gold Coast in Queensland is an area that is ecologically diverse with a range of National Parks including some of which are listed as World Heritage sites.

The Gold Coast is also the location of Australia’s largest subtropical rainforest. Gold Coast National Parks all have various distinguishing features.

Gold Coast National Parks, Springbrook & Lamington Tours


Burleigh Head National Park is only 90 kilometres from the Queensland capital of Brisbane. This national park features picturesque views of the ocean and a pleasant walking tracks along the shore and through the rainforest. Burleigh Heads National Park features opportunities to see whales and sea eagles.

Other famous national parks are Springbrook, Tamborine and Lamington National Parks, all of which have a range of spectacular waterfalls and scenic lookout spots. Springbrook features the Natural Bridge, which is a naturally formed arch. The cave at Natural Bridge is home to a colony of glow worms that light up the waters at night and make for a spectacular sight. Visitors can take a guided tour of the caves organized by commercial tour operators. Swimming in the waters is not permitted in order to protect the glow worm habitat.

Lamington National Park, which is located 45 kilometres from Brisbane has a large array of trails and tracks for walking and hiking and visitors can spend a couple of hours to a full day exploring the area which includes the Green Mountains and Binna Burra sections. There are also several picnic and barbecue spots with pleasant views and great opportunities for bird watching.

The Gold Coast is home to many other National Parks that feature various flora and fauna, diverse landscapes and terrain and beautiful water features such as stunning waterfalls. Gold Coast national parks offer excellent leisure opportunities for those looking for a relaxing experience as well as those looking for a more adventurous experience with opportunities to go hiking, camping, swimming and wildlife and bird watching.
