The park itself forms part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park and it has been recognised as being internationally important to conservation efforts by the United Nations through designation as a Ramsar protected wetland.

Within the park, you will certainly see plenty of wildlife including kangaroos and koalas as well as a large variety of birds. From the boardwalk, visitors can see across to the Coombabah Lake’s western shore, an undeveloped lake habitat where the bird watching is excellent.

There are a number of walks you can take within the Coombabah Lake Nature Reserve including the Koala Track and the Kookaburra Track. All tracks are easy walks and suitable for people with moderate fitness as well as children.
