The annual Christmas Light Up competition is one of the most fun events of the season, with the glowing festive spirit found all around the place, with many fun-filled light displays and activities.

Each year hundreds of residents and business owners take part in making the streets of sparkle for the chance to win cash and prizes. Murrays Coaches typically runs bus tours to view the City of Gold Coast Christmas Lights Competition entrant’s homes every evening.

It appears that only yesterday it was announced that the annual Christmas lights competition will not go ahead this year.
Reading 2 different articles on the same day, it’s even difficult to figure out if the event will go ahead in the future. In one articles, it quoted that “Mayor Tom Tate confirmed the event had been cancelled for good”, while in another it states “That’s not to say that the bus tours couldn’t return sometime in the future, with the Mayor vowing to review the decision in a year’s time.”
The Mayor still suggests people put up their lights – there just won’t be an official event or bus service this year at least.
