Beyond the Sand, 2023 Dates, Art & Beach Sculptures, Gold Coast
Installation art is a modern style of art characterised by immersive, larger-than-life constructions designed to transform the perception of a space. These are usually made for a specific location and only for a temporary period of time. Created with the focus on the experience of the person engrossed in it, find yourself in the midst of an entire environment as you wander throughout the festival, completely surrounded by art.
South East Queensland has a vibrant, evolving art culture that needs a platform to be shared. Beyond the Sand’s Artist Gallery provides new, emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their works at a dynamic outdoor multi-medium festival throughout Surfers Paradise.
You’ll not only see art come alive as you wander through the artist gallery, but have the option to purchase your favourite piece as well.
Beyond the Sand is also a beachfront gallery of colour, movement and music. This celebration of skill and creativity will spark your curiosity as you experience a variety of installation art, performances and interactive activities. Get creative and enjoy the full Beyond the Sand experience by stopping by one of the many entertainment spaces.
Beyond the Sand will continue on the legacy of Sand Safari and feature elements such as the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships, sand art activities and workshops, however, will look to move beyond the heritage of ‘sand and sea’ and incorporate a variety of mediums that highlight the artistic flair and creativity of artists around Australia. Beyond the Sand will become a cultural hub that reflects the lifestyle and creativity of the Gold Coasts thriving art scene.
Beyond the Sand is free for the whole family to attend, making it one of the cheapest, entertaining days out in Surfer’s Paradise. Surfers Paradise becomes a land of plenty with so much to do, see and enjoy. Take a trip around the wonderful setting and enjoy the many restaurants, shopping experiences, and attractions.
Is there good parking?
Hi Teresa,
I can’t say there is great parking in Surfers and there is really no way of knowing how many on-street spots there will be at any given time.
What I could recommend and what we did last weekend was park at the Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre and walk over to the beach. The parking appears to be free for up to 2 hours, or if you book online, you can get the weekend rate for $4.50 – which all appeared to be the best option when I did my research last weekend.
I hope you have a good day.
Michael
